I have always appreciated Organizations and individuals who support and assist in matters that concern breaking down the barriers to make way for quality education in Pakistan. On a personal level, I would hereby like to applaud the efforts by TCF; the entire concept of the Rahbar program by The Citizen’s Foundation overwhelms me where the people from the organization work on increasing awareness amongst the common masses about how they can contribute to this noble cause. I hope to be able to participate as a Rahbar again as soon as I have some time off.

U.S. Consulate General, Karachi has initiated several educational programs in our country, and I am proud to say that my mum has remained a part of some very integral educational initiatives including awareness on Internet usage during her tenure as the AIRC Director at the Consulate in several less privileged areas across Pakistan.

Anyway, have always wanted to say this.. but I know how much I annoy people with ideas such as these.. Just realized this is MY blog, so decided to write on the topic anyway 🙂 English is used as an International language across the globe, and over 350 million people speak it as their native language. I have noticed that not many people here focus on their reading habits when in school, which results in shaking up their confidence a little when they are required to voice their opinion clearly on a large or even a small scale. Living in a society that exists today where life if so fast-paced, the competitive streak amongst professionals is at its peak, and therefore, there are several drawbacks of not knowing the language. Learning and improving on your English speaking and writing skills can have a very positive impact on one’s professional life.

People I have seen get offended very easily when corrected, even in class. I believe though, that there is no harm in learning something that helps one in the long run in one way or another. There are no age limits set for learning something new either- alhamdolillah for that.. 🙂 I’m still working on my vocab and I probably will be doing that till I die.. 🙂 Here, I’d also like to clear a very common misconception that most students of English language have. Guys and girls, an awesome vocabulary has nothing to do with good English! Sure it’s an added advantage, but it is actually correct grammar that serves as basis for good English speaking/ writing skills. Anyway.. 🙂
